Fishing Wyoming Discussion (Can we get a Western Streams Sub-Forum ...

Well I am going to blame a lot of you on this board! Thank you for providing good information about Yellowstone. You certainly helped make my first trip out west a good one. Now I am hopelessly obsessed about fishing out there. Thanks, I mean it.

Hopefully I am not beating a dead horse, but I am already planning another trip this summer, this time around it is going to be strictly a fishing trip. No site seeing, horseplay, or fun, just focusing on the important business of fly fishing.

One of my long time fishing buddies has told me to tell him when, where and what to bring and he’ll be there. So I have been left in charge of the obsessing and arrangements. Not sure if there are any real questions here, or ones that you all haven’t already answered but I would welcome any discussion.

I know it is a little bit of a crap shoot to plan dates this far in advanced with out knowing how the snowfall/pack will pan out for the season, but plane tickets are at a good price right now. I hope to finalize the dates with in the next week or two, but I am looking at either the 3rd or 4th weekend of July(July has 5 this year) to fly in.

I plan to spend time outside of Yellowstone this go around which is where I hope some of you will be gracious enough to assist with, since you offered so much good info on Yellowstone.

The problem is there is so much water I am having a bit of trouble narrowing it down.

The rough plan as of right now is to fly into Jackson, rent a car and this is were things get fuzzy. I definitely want to fish the Snake and go for some fine spotted cutts and some large browns. I am thinking fish the Jackson area a the tail end of the trip. Spend a day or two fishing some remote areas of the Gros Ventre or Pacific Creek, then do a float trip on the Snake our last day. So this leads me to my first question. Can anyone recommend a great float guide?

We will probably start off the trip heading up to Slough and fishing slough, Soda Butte, Lamar, and maybe Hellroaring fork. I also want to get over to the Gallatin, and possibly Fan Creek. All in all I pretty much know what to expect in the park now.
